What are services like?

Most of the time, our services follow the pattern laid out in the Book of Common Prayer.

  • New to the Prayer Book?  Don't worry.  You don't have to be a Prayer Book expert to worship at Grace.  We always announce page numbers (the service bulletin also lists page numbers), and soon it will start to feel familiar.  If you feel lost, ask someone nearby to help you find your place--they will be delighted to!

Occasionally, we draw on liturgies from other parts of the Anglican Communion, such as the Church of England, or of New Zealand.

We always hear readings from the Bible, and there is always a sermon.

There is always time for prayer for the church, the world, and those in need.

We almost always celebrate the Eucharist (communion).

At the ten-fifteen service there are hymns, choir anthems, and instrumental music.  Other services are generally spoken, without music.

As in many things, we seek to be faithful by following a middle way: We aim for worship that is reverent and careful, but not rigid or stuffy.

Want to know more about why we do what we do?  Move your cursor to the"Worship" tab at the left, and read the Instructed Eucharist documents that explain the origin and significance of the details of our worship.
